    In the Early Days of drag racing, these guys didn't use the jet aircraft starters the fuel cars have today, These cars were push started! (see left picure)

  These cars were light, (under 2000 lbs.) extremely high powered (guestimated at around 1,500 hp) very short wheel based (45") and very quick. (7.30@220mph) Not to mention, at times, a handful to keep under control! But if ever there was a man for the job, Willie Borsh, was that man.

The transmissions used were automatics with a clutch (Clutch Flite's) Once they were "push started", they rolled in to the "bleach box" to warm up the slicks, then reversed to the staging area. (see above picture)
